SPB Global maintains and reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability, which is why it participates in the European Circular Packaging Challenge programme of Ecoembes.

This is a European competition between startups to find the most effective solutions that boost the circularity of packaging.

This initiative is coordinated by TheCircularLab, Ecoembes‘ open innovation centre for the circular economy. The call is open to all start-ups that are less than 10 years old and want to address the challenges posed by the circular economy.

More than 20 companies in the packaging sector are collaborating

In this edition, more than 20 companies that put packaging on the market and are part of Ecoembes will be collaborating. SPB Global participates in the Circular Packaging Challenge of Ecoembes. Also participating: Azucarera, BonArea, Campofrío, Capsa Food, Coca Cola, Danone, Euromadi, Florette, Galletas Gullón, Grupo Lactalis, Inquiva, ISDIN, Leche Celta, L’Oreal, Mahou-San Miguel, McDonald’s, Nestlé, Nueva Pescanova, PROSOL, RefresCO, RNB, Scheiber Foods, Unilever and Zelnova Zeltia, among others. SPB Global and the other companies will participate in the recruitment of startups, develop joint pilot projects or be part of the jury that will evaluate the finalists.

A unique project in Europe to meet the challenges of the circular economy

The startups will have to respond to two specific challenges. On the one hand, finding solutions that help the packaging sector boost its circular transition, through eco-design, more sustainable packaging or material selection and separation systems, among other challenges. On the other hand, projects to improve information and traceability of packaging and, with the help of new technologies, help citizens recognise packaging or labelling linked to sustainability.

SPB Global participates in Ecoembes’ Circular Packaging Challenge because it is an open innovation and sustainability exercise that responds to the company’s vision: to be the leading innovation and sustainability partner of choice for large manufacturers and retailers worldwide.
